Enterprise Architect
Responsibilities
PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Enterprise Architect aligns TransLink enterprise IT strategy and plans with business goals. Provides innovative thought leadership, strategic guidance and technology expertise to support business and technology leaders across the enterprise to plan, enable and achieve targeted business outcomes through the choice of programs, projects, initiatives, and technologies.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Works closely with BTS management team to jointly develop strategic and long-term IT objectives which meet TransLink business and technology goals. Develops enterprise architecture strategies and roadmaps to guide the enterprise through the business, information, process and technology changes required to support enterprise vision and strategies.
Provides expert leadership in the creation of governance, principles, policies and standards to guide technology decision making. Ensures compliance to architecture standards and policies across all relevant architecture domains and in all projects and programs. Leverages current technologies and operating data to continuously enhance business practices and project/program efficiency and effectiveness.
Provides an advanced level of expertise on enterprise architectural direction to business and technology leaders to address emerging business requirements, support projects and optimize service delivery. Establishes an in-depth understanding of business strategies, as well as future and current state business models of the supporting business units. Works with business leaders to understand business requirements, financial considerations and technology opportunities; plans strategic migration; effectively supports and guides the decision making of the business leaders on choosing or changing business and/or technology support models. Builds architectural alternatives and provides architecture blueprints to senior management and stakeholders for endorsement.
Establishes and promotes the business value of enterprise architecture programs and functions in enabling strategy formulation, business transformation and technology innovation. Establishes respectful, productive working relationships with business leaders in the supporting business units and IT leaders in the BTS division. Advise product/program teams and Business Relationship Advisors to ensure consistency with the enterprise architecture.
Works closely other architects in BTS on all architecture domains to lead the creation and evolution of one or more enterprise architecture programs including business architecture, data/information architecture, solution architecture and infrastructure architecture.
Develops and recommends technology decommissioning plans in consultation with the business units and senior leadership team in BTS.
Provides technical leadership to other IT architects and contractors.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Computer Engineering plus eight (8) years recent experience in enterprise architecture with significant experience in translating business requirements into IT solutions in a large enterprise environment.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Expert understanding and knowledge of various enterprise architecture methodologies (e.g., Zachman, TOGAF, FEA) and ability to adapt and develop hybrid applications of methodologies to meet needs. TOGAF certification is an asset.
Superior communication skills (verbal and written) to explain technical concepts to non-technical individuals; Advanced ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively and in a user-friendly manner
Advanced knowledge of business models, operating models, cost – benefit analysis, budgeting and risk management
Expert negotiation, influencing abilities and conflict resolutions skills
Advanced business analysis skills and insightfulness to forecast trends
Strong ability to organize competing priorities
Sound planning, organization, and time management skills
Other Information
Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.
Work Schedule
37.5 hours per week.

This position offers the flexibility of working both on-site and remotely within B.C.
Rate of Pay
Salary $107,200 – $160,800 per annum (Actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity).
